Dear Single Girl,

Updated: Apr 23, 2023

I don't know what you've encountered, what you've been through, or what you've endured, but I do know how it feels to be in your shoes. I am currently in a season of singleness and I've been in this one for longer than I care to admit. So, please believe me when I say I understand the struggle, and I'm right there with you. I know you may feel like you're a failure, but your success is not determined by having a spouse, a significant other, or a boyfriend. Your success is found in the Successor, who triumphed over death and fought hell for you, so you wouldn't have to go there. I understand the loneliness of sitting next to an empty seat at family dinners, church functions, and everything in-between. I certainly understand the complacency that accompanies singleness and the indifference you may feel when time after time and year after year, lots of your friends are getting married, but you're still here. I know you may think that you don't have a hand to hold, but let me remind you of the One whose hands were pierced for you at calvary. The hole that you have in your heart, that hole was intended for Jesus to fill. I know sometimes it's easy to get caught up in or believe the lie that you aren't good enough or pretty enough or beautiful enough, but the fact that Jesus died for you gives you an intrinsic amount of worth. And because of the work that He has done, you can rest free in the ultimate truth that Christ and Christ alone really is enough for you. I truly hope that you do not sell yourself short because you have been fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. The uniqueness of who you are, the number of hairs on your head, the specific eye color that you have, all of these features were made and fashioned by the hands of your loving Creator who saw fit to breathe you into this world. If you've accepted Christ as Lord & Savior, you are a workmanship created in Jesus, and I pray you never forget that. On the days when it's hard, on the weekends when your friends are going out and you're staying in, during the times when you don't have a wedding date, or a date to prom, or just someone to take you out and make you feel special, please know this: God is faithful, and He always will be, He doesn't always give you what you want, but He always gives you what you need. And if you find yourself in such a season where your heart aches and you wish your circumstances were different, that you could partake & be in a relationship with someone, I would encourage you to take all of who you are and pour it out at Jesus's feet. The One who was never too proud to humble himself and become a man knows what it is like to be human and endure the pain and sufferings of this world. He knows how hard it is, He knows what you're going through, but most importantly of all, He sees you in that hard place, in that struggle, and He washes your feet & wipes your tears all the same. He teaches you what true love is and allows you to experience the joy that only knowing Him intimately & closely brings. The more you allow yourself and your desires to be open to His will, the more you find yourself in the presence of an Almighty God whose love is so overwhelming it can be hard to understand how to respond to. Should you laugh or should you cry? Maybe both at times. His love knows no other comparison, and no boy no matter how cute or great he is can love you the way that Jesus can. That's not to say that he shouldn't try to, but it's to say that Jesus is the only one that can restore your heart because He already broke His for yours. I pray you never settle for anything less than a godly man who leads you closer to Christ, and in each relationship you encounter, you choose God's will above your own. And when you think that no one else knows the battle you're facing, or no one else sees, I pray that God is faithful to guide you to these precious reminders, just as He has been faithful to guide them to me:

Much Love,

Hailey Renee
